Our Story

Founder, Leslie Jones has been working alongside prominent artists in the design community interpreting ideas, forms, functions and textures.

Leslie trained as a metal worker originally and post apprenticeship he gained his diploma in Mechanical Engineering. He credits this as the beggining of his career.

Leslie then became the design workshop manager for Prahran Art College – which later became Swinburne University.

It was here that Leslie taught model making to industrial design students and mentored sculpture and general art students in a variety of projects.

After 9 years of being encouraged to work on his own furniture pieces, Leslie started Design Form (originally Design Formations) in 1995.

He grew Design Form from a single humble craftsman into a powerhouse team of highly dedicated, talented and passionate people.

What is
Les Compagnons
Du Devoir?

The Compagnons du Tour de France is a French organization of craftsmen and artisans dating from the Middle Ages. Their traditional, technical education includes taking a tour, the Tour de France, around France and doing apprenticeships with masters. For a young man or young woman today, the compagnonnage is a traditional way to learn a trade while developing character by experiencing community life and traveling.
